Place-Based Education: Making School More Like a Farmer's Market, with David Sobel, co-director, Center for Place-Based Education, Antioch New England, will open the institute.

The three-day program includes workshops with teachers, staff from historic sites and museums, environmental educators, writers, naturalists, artists, scientists, historians, and others.  Read

Choose an in-depth field experience on day two.

Registration fee: $90 for all three days or $35 per day.  Fee includes most field experiences, 2 or 3 lunches, and 2 light breakfasts.  Fees increase after July 15. 

THV institutes are opportunities to learn more about the Hudson Valley and place-based education. Participants choose from a variety of sessions including hands-on workshops, panel discussions, field trips, and more formal talks. Facilitators and speakers span all disciplines and include scholars, teachers, activists, library/media specialists, scientists, and more.

THV institutes are open to the public with special emphases for K-12 educators and site staff working with children and teens. Watch this page for details on the program and registration. Attendance certificates will be available through the Mid-Hudson Teachers Center.
