albanytrunk.250px.jpgWith field trip funds shrinking each year, teachers can consider virtual field trips as way of tapping resources outside the classroom.

Videoconferencing equipment (if your school has it) or free services like Skype can give you the opportunity to visit places or meet people virtually for little to no cost.

This Tuesday, July 26, I'm leading a workshop on virtual field trips at THV's Place & The Digital Native: Using Social Media and Technology to Teach the Hudson Valley.

During my session we will make a Skype connection with the Albany Institute of History and Art.  We will see a sampling of what they have to offer regarding the Hudson Valley:
  • Natural History and the Environment
  • Arts, Culture and History
  • Transportation
  • Commerce, Industry and Trade
