Teaching the Hudson Valley is pleased to administer a new field trip grant: The Bus is on Us, offered by the Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites and the FDR Presidential Library & Museum.
K-12 educators in public and private schools may apply for regular, summer, or after-school programs. Trips should be related to core curriculum or programs and take place by December 31, 2011. Teachers in the same school or district may apply together. Details.
Monday, May 16, 4:15-6:30 p.m., Human Rights, Stories, and Everyday Life, a workshop with Susanne Norris, NPS education specialist, and Nova Benway, M.A. candidate, Curatorial Studies, Bard College. Attendance certificates available from the Mid-Hudson Teachers Center. Learn more. Sunday, May 22, 1-4 p.m., Vanderbilt Mansion garden tours guided by members of the F. W. Vanderbilt Garden Association. Friday, May 27, 7-9 p.m., USO Show featuring comedy, historic film footage, and music from the 1940s. This free public event is just one of the Memorial Day Weekend activities hosted by the FDR Presidential Library and Museum. Details on this and other library programs. The Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Sites (ROVA) are delighted to announce the completion and approval of its General Management Plan, which lays out broad, long-term strategies for managing the parks in the 21st Century.
